Geysir (hot spring)

Geysir, also known as The Great Geysir is located in southwest Iceland. Eruptions at Geysir can hurl water up to 70 meters in the air. But the eruptions can be infrequent and have for years at a time in the past.  The research shows that Geysir has been active for approx. 10.000 years.  The nearby hot spring Strokkur erupts more frequently than Geysir, erupting up to 30 meters high every few minutes.  It is very popular to visit Geysir area,  you can rent a car and drive there yourself or take tour with a bus.
